Far Left SITREP for Friday, 10 January 2025
A look at the upcoming "Festival of Resistance" and Inauguration action
By now, you may have heard about the Festivals of Resistance being organized by Far Left groups. Most of those events are scheduled for the weekend of 18 January, that’s next weekend, but there are two events in Chicago, IL and Sacramento, CA scheduled for tomorrow.
These Festivals of Resistance are intended to re-organize atrophied networks left over from the Antifa riots of 2020. At last count, there’s about 20 of them scheduled, mainly for next weekend. There are organizing events, training workshops covering things like “ICE Watching” and de-arrest training, mutual aid, medical training. All of these were pretty standard events from 2016 through 2020. They’re trying to get the band back together as Trump takes office a few days later.
Now, at the same time, there are also about a hundred Indivisible and Peoples March protests happening. These are being organized largely by progressive and social justice groups. These groups are mainly involved in mass protests and maybe some civil disobedience. These aren’t going to be the shock troops like we saw from Antifa from 2015 through 2021. But both factions of the left are trying to re-establish their networks and build back some mobilization capacity.
Here’s what comes next…
